Founded in 1980 by Kristin Feireiss and Helga Retzer as Europe's first private architecture gallery in West Berlin, Aedes is co-directed by Hans-Jürgen Commerell since 1994.
The long-standing communication of architecture and building culture has made Aedes an internationally renowned center for the discourse on contemporary architecture and urban planning. Exhibitions, workshops, gala events and much more have attracted the most influential thinkers, designers and users of modern architecture, a large number of international decision-makers and representatives of a world geared towards cooperation and mutual benefit for decades.
